We are delighted to introduce Janice Flynn as Chief Financial Officer of the H. E. Butt Foundation.

You may not know this about me, but I’m a sculptor. My favorite medium is sand.

Our daily work remains the same as it ever was—to serve families and children, to offer spiritual formation. We are working to change our little corner of the world, and we hope you’ll join us.

Since the Foundation’s birth in 1933, our roots and our core commitments have remained unchanged. Yet each generation of Foundation leadership has expressed its mission in different ways based on the language of the day and the needs and opportunities placed before us in the Canyon and in our local communities.

Retreats at the newly renovated Laity Lodge began September 15 following a 22-month hiatus. The next issue of ECHOES Newsletter will be a special 2017 Annual Report, arriving in mailboxes in early 2018.

We want all kids to have the same great opportunities. We, too, want to address the opportunity gap—the growing disparity between the top and bottom thirds in our country.

Partnering with mental health initiatives has been one of our areas of interest through the generations.

Serving God in the regular world isn’t easy, and that is where we send not just our seasonal staff, but all of our 27,000 guests each year.

Laity Lodge is excited to announce the addition of Brandon Dickerson as a new director. Longtime employee Dayna DeLaVergne retired in late 2016 after a 38-year career with H-E-B and The H. E. Butt Foundation. The Texas Water Development Board recently installed a weather station at the H. E. Butt Foundation Camps.
